Microsoft BizSpark™ threw an amazing event at the Carnelian Room Dec 16th. I got there at about 7:30pm and it was packed with brilliant developers, designers, consultants, and of course entrepreneurs.

Some personal highlights for me included meeting Kevin Braithwaite and Anne Donker. Kevin is a SF based British entrepreneur currently, he is developing a social venture incubator in Beirut, Lebanon. Anne Donker is program chair at SVASE, a non-profit technology group that helps early stage tech entrepreneurs companies.

I also got to meet people from startups like First on Mars, Jajah, Sonic Living, and Sailthru.

First on Mars

First on Mars is a web 2.0 app that lets you to find and organize links to your shows. Along with the usual sorting by genre and shows, it also lets you sort by TV moods. First on Mars also lets you share links with others using Facebook, Twitter, and StumbleUpon. It even has customizable skins and a feed that lets you know when your specified shows are added.

Jajah Jajah is a low cost calling company. It lets you make international calls from your local number by giving you a local number that is associated with an international phone number. Curiously my tech savvy dad had already gotten me hooked on Stanacard which provides a similar service. But having this new option will allow me to compare rates.

Sonic Living Sonic Living provides a great service for people like me who primarily listen to music through preference based sites like Pandora or LastFm or self selected ones like itunes. Once you give Sonic Living your logins to these services it can tell you about upcoming shows by the artists you usually listen to in your area. No more depending on your friends to find out first, Sonic Living takes care of it.

Sailthru Sailthru has email tools for websites. Triggermail monitors the delivery and receipt of marketing and transactional email to users’ inboxes. It also tracks whether the user then clicked, opted out, or spam reported. There other service GetConnect lets users import and invite their contacts to your website. They even have an ad funded model that allows you to by pass payment for Triggermail and earn revenue from your email sending. All in all great tools!
